Temporary suspension of postal shipments to the USA

We regret to inform you that we are unable to ship USA orders due to shipping issues (please see the details below).

We are currently working on arranging a collaboration with DHL. However, we cannot send any packages until we confirm that DHL ships to the USA and determine the shipping cost. Once we have an update, we will inform you.

Please note that any customs duties, taxes, or import charges applied will be the responsibility of the customer.

Until then, we will refund the full amount of any US order and proceed with its cancellation.

TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF POSTAL SHIPMENTS TO THE USA

Hellenic Post informs customers of the temporary suspension of the dispatch of all postal items containing goods to the United States of America and its territories, effective as of 26 August 2025.

This temporary suspension is a result of the tightening of U.S. customs regulations. More specifically:

  1. As of 29 August 2025, items/goods that were previously exempt from customs duties—namely items with a value below the threshold of USD 800—will now be subject to customs duties from the very first dollar.
  2. These duties must be paid to U.S. Customs BEFORE the goods enter the country.

The technical specifications and implementation details were published by U.S. Customs on 15 August 2025, but further clarifications are required regarding the published documents and the relevant regulation.

Postal operators across Europe are working together to meet these obligations as soon as possible; however, many have already announced a temporary suspension of shipments to the USA. In addition, several partner freight carriers as well as airlines have stated that they too are suspending the transport of postal shipments destined for the United States until an operational procedure is put in place.

The suspension is a temporary but unfortunately necessary measure for the development, testing, and implementation of new cross-border technical solutions required to comply with the new U.S. requirements.

Based on the current situation:

  • Incoming mail, i.e., mail arriving from the United States, remains unaffected.
  • The dispatch of correspondence, i.e., documents, to the USA remains unaffected.
  • The dispatch of parcels or packages containing goods to the USA via Hellenic Post (ELTA) is possible only through courier services, not through postal networks.

Hellenic Post, together with other postal operators, is working intensively to develop solutions that will fully restore postal services to the USA as soon as possible.
